Autumn Update Newsletter 2020

During the Covid-19 pandemic we have been able to continue to carry out work on the estate with tree trimming, grass cutting and the painting schedule was completed. Committee meetings have had to take place via Zoom. We have also completed the new Bin Store 4 area on the private road and tree trimming is due to take place shortly along the full length of the private road.

Recycling and Bin Waste

We have seen an increase in the misuse of the bin stores and contamination of the recycling bins. The bin stores are for household waste and recycling only. Please never leave any items of waste on the ground or next to the bins as the Council Collection will NOT collect this. You MUST take larger items to the local recycling centre.

Important Rules when using the Bins

The PAPER recycling bins should only contain paper and magazines, NOT cardboard or plastic bags!

The MIXED recycling bins should only contain recyclable waste which is specified on the notice displayed on the front of the bin. You should NOT put polystyrene, plastic bags, plastic film wrap, crisp packets etc into the mixed recycling bins as this contaminates it. Please compact cardboard boxes. Please leave the bin area in a clean and tidy condition.

We are aware of the main offenders of this as they are leaving address labels on the items they leave in the incorrect bins. Unfortunately if this continues we will be forced to pass these details on to East Herts Council as they have previously complained to us about the regular contamination issues they encounter.Rotary Washing Line Users – Please remember to collapse your rotary lines and put a cover on it when not in use to help keep the estate looking tidy.

Other recent activity

A conifer tree outside block 9 – Flat numbers: [29-30-31-32] unfortunately had to be removed due to roots damaging the car park of garage court 4. We are in the process of sourcing for a replacement tree with less invasive roots.

A new bin area is being constructed near block 1 & 2 – Flat numbers: [15-16], [11-12-13-14] to replace the old bin store 4. We have been in discussion with the residents to ensure the location new will be more accessible to residents and also the bin collectors.

Flower beds, garden edges are looking lovely around the estate and we really appreciate the residents involved in looking after and maintaining these areas using their own time and their own funds. If you are making any gardening improvements around the estate please keep us involved as we will guide you in what you can and cannot do.

The drainage health check has been undertaken the last few days and we will have the report shortly.
