Communal Bin Collections Changed To Friday

recycling_notice_02After speaking with East Herts Council today as it was noted the refuse vehicle came, but failed to collect 14 of our black bins I was informed that the Communal Bin Collection Day will now be on a Friday. They will however continue to collect the individual residents’ bins on a Wednesday as normal (the non-Leat Close Management Association residents in the private houses).

What To Do If There Is An Issue With Bin Collections?

Properties With uPVC Front Doors

If your property has a uPVC front door then you need to be aware of how easy it is to open from the outside when the door is shut but not double locked.

Remember To Double Lock Your Doors

In January 2009 one of our residents was the victim of a house burglary, which was not a pleasant experience. It was made easier for the intruders, as the front door had not been double locked.

When locked properly uPVC doors are one of the most secure doors you can have. When they are double locked the mechanism initiates the five point locking bolts. Unfortunately if the door is not double locked it just relies on one central latch, which can be popped open from the outside with a screwdriver within seconds and with very little noise!

Mis-using The Bin Areas

As some of you may be unaware, the bin areas are for household waste, garden waste and recycling. There are signs on top of the bins which notify the types of rubbish allowed.

We have noticed that non-household is also being left in the bin areas (like the green chair above) which does cost the Association money to remove which unfortunately comes out of your annual management fees. We ask that residents respect others and take non-household waste to the local waste disposal site (the nearest one is in Harlow – River Way, Temple Bank, Harlow – 0845 603 7625).

Your help is appreciated.
